As the chains have no fixed shafts, they follow the soil's surface with a unique levelling capability. The peeling effect will move the soil to where it is missing, for example in fields which previous years have left uneven and to fill wheel ruts. Several runs may be necessary for deep ruts to ensure full levelling.

This levelling capability can also be used on heavy soil, for example ploughed soil to be levelled or on crops which have been deep harrowed with a rough and cloddy result. The clods are broken, the old roots are cut and the surface is left even and fine for the next run.

Even after 1-2 years' use, experience shows that the Kelly MPH together with the other implements will make the soil much more even during both sowing and harvest.
